I have a big problem when I delegate a task. Once I mention the topic
of the task, I believe the needed result, the needed methods and resources,
and the needed empowerment are all obvious. Part of my personality type
(ENTP, for those who know Meyers Briggs typing), is that everything seems
obvious to me. The problem is: what’s obvious to me isn’t
obvious to others.
Some people have a clear sense of who they are, where they're going
in life; they can see it clearly because they have a personal vision
of what they want to achieve in their life. They're committed to it.
They're at peace with it.

Vision Is Knowing Where You Want To Be
Some people have a clear sense of who they are, where they're going in life; they can see it clearly because they have a personal vision of what they want to achieve in their life. They're committed to it. They're at peace with it.
What is vision, anyway? Isn't vision simply the ability to see? It's the power to see, and having a sense of personal vision enables a person to see where he or she is going. it helps him or her prioritize; makes it easier to know what to say "yes" to, when to say "no." It's important for a family or an organization to have a sense of vision, as well. It gives to its people a clearer sense of purpose, a sense of peace, as they see themselves moving along in a direction they believe in.
Some people may have a lot of diversity in their lives and undertake many tasks, but behind it all is a clear vision of how it all fits together to get the person to his or her destination. Have you ever known anybody who just had such a direct sense of purpose in their own life? Having a personal sense of vision that you feel is God-given is a great gift, it's a powerful aid.
Often your sense of vision for your life grows gradually. You don't get it suddenly. It can be developed first out of some very special relationships. The most important relationships come from your family. What you heard or saw at home has incalculable importance to your sense of who you are. Much of your personal vision will grow out of what you've learned at home. You also gain a sense of who you are from your close friends--who they are and what they reinforce in you.
For developing your sense of vision, first look at your family. What virtues and values did you absorb? In what direction did they push you? What things did they teach you that matter the most?
Then look at your friendships. Look at your special role models, your heroes, the people who led you. Or look at the special friends in your life. What dreams have they inspired in you? What passions did they ignite? What visions did they implant? What gifts did they see in you? You have friends, mentors, and models; and they will tell you a lot about yourself.
Another source of your sense of vision comes from your gifts--your strengths and talents. You need to stir up your gifts. Let them develop. Exercise them.
Look to your gifts. What equipment do you have in terms of qualities, and aptitudes, or great interests? Learn from your gifts. Where have you excelled? Where do you sense great pleasure when you are doing something? Where do those you love sense great pleasure when you're doing something?
What responsibilities have you had? What have others seen in you that led them to give you those responsibilities? What have you recognized in yourself that led you to accept those responsibilities?
Ask yourself these questions. What is my purpose in life? What did those who love me and know me tell me I'm best at doing? Try to express it. Try to envision it. Take little steps in that direction.
